Rita Bullwinkel

Rita Bullwinkel is the author of the novel Headshot (2024), longlisted for the 2024 Booker Prize, and the short-story collection Belly Up, which won a 2022 Whiting Award. Her writing has been published in the White Review, BOMB , NOON and Guernica, among others. She is a recipient of grants and fellowships from MacDowell, Brown University, Vanderbilt University, Hawthornden Castle and the Helene Wurlitzer Foundation. She is the winner of the Addison M. Metcalf Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. Both her fiction and translation have been nominated for Pushcart Prizes. She is the editor of McSweeney’s Quarterly, a Contributing Editor for NOON, and the creator of Oral Florist. She is an Assistant Professor of English at University of San Francisco.
